Nine Years….and counting

Nine years ago today, I asked the best and most beautiful girl to be my girlfriend–she said yes. Ever since I met her, she has been a major blessing. I love to be around her. She is so uplifting, and she encourages me to be a better person and grow closer to the Lord.

Over these past 9 years, we have gone through so much together. I have enjoyed dating her from day one. She makes me smile, and she make me laugh.

We got got engaged on December 21, 2007. And on November 27, 2010, I married that girl.

Lauren Paige Smith, I love! You mean the world to me. I am so glad that the Lord blessed me with you. I love you babe.

Ten Years After 9/11/01

9.11.2001 – What were you doing on this day? Where were you? I can remember being in band class in the 8th grade at Stanfield Elementary School. When we got word that there had been a terrorist attck and the first plane had hit one of the WTC towers, we went into one of the 1st or 2nd grade classrooms and turned in the TV to get news on what  events had just taken place (and to watch the unpredicted events that were still yet to occur).

I pray that the Lord will be with the families that were affected by the plane hijackings. Lord, bless those families that lost loved ones, be with the rescue personel that risked there lives to save others, bless our nation and help us to prevent something like this from ever happening again, and help our nation turn our eyes back to You O’ Lord. Our country was built on a biblical foundation, Lord help us not to forget that foundation; if we do, then our nation will crumble.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, ONE NATION UNDER GOD, indivisible, with liberty, and justice for all.

AMEN!

Harvest Church – Reach Kids Camp 2011

Harvest Church hosted there first anual kids camp this month.  The camp took place August 11-13. At this camp, the kids were involved in devotions, putt-putt, skating, swimming, worshipping, praying, and listening to biblical teachings.

Satan tried so hard to prevent this event from taking plan, but God had great plans for this camp and was determined to make things happen! That is how great and mighty our God is!

8.11.11 - Group praying

The kids actively prayed for God to do great works. They believed with faith that God heard their cries and that He would answer their prayers!

8.11.11 - Worship: Going after the Lord in song

The kids sang songs like “Deep Cries Out”, “Praises”, “You Are Good”, and “How He Loves” as they worshipped the Lord. It was a joy to see young kids sing, lift up their hands, and dance before the Lord. God is raising up a generation of unashamed worshippers!

On Thursday and Friday night, the kids observed a dance synced to music.

8.11.11 - Leaders praying over the kids

The leaders had a chance to pray over the kids. It was a great time with the Lord! Not only did the leaders pray for the kids, but the kids prayed for other kids and the leaders.

In addition to all of this, the leaders made the kids a 20 ft. long banana split. And, on Friday night they had a camp fire and had a lock-in.

My Sister Graduated

On June 10, 2011, my sister Kayce Nicole Smith graduated from West Stanly High School. I am proud of her for making this big accomplishment! In addition to passing her classes, Kayce had to complete a senior project. For her project, she wrote a childrens book. The quote below is an article by the Stanly News and Press.

WSHS Senior Kayce Smith studied planet Earth and created a children’s book about it. “I’’ve always been really interested in science,” Smith said. “I decided to write a children’s book because I enjoy working with kids.” Smith read her book to children as part of her project.

Kayce, I love you. You are a great sister.

My 22nd Birthday

I had a very good birthday today [September 30]. I had to work and go to school all day. When I got home, my sister had made a special supper because it was my birthday. She made pasta carbonara and dirt cake. It was very good.

My family ate together for the first time in a long time. We are always to busy, and everyone is not home at the same time. I was glad that we got to spend time fellowshipping around the dinner table.

I also got to see my beautiful fiancée. I enjoyed getting to spend time with her. I am very blessed to have her. We are looking forward to our November wedding date [MatthewAndPaige.com].

Thanks for the great birthday!

PBC Youth Mission Trip: Savannah, GA 2010

Below is a letter regarding a mission trip that the youth from my church and myself are going on.

Dear Friends:

The youth from Philadelphia Baptist Church in Stanfield, NC is sending a mission team back to Savannah, Georgia during the week of July 31 – August 6. We [the youth] are excited to be part of this team again this year! Last year we held Bible School for the adults at the Baptist Center. This year, one of our goals is to team up with another youth group to hosting vacation Bible school for the kids at the Savannah Baptist Center. Our main goal is to reach the children of Savannah for Christ. We will be sharing our faith with the people we meet on the trip.  Also, we are looking forward to reconnecting with those that we met last year.

We are writing to invite you to become a part of our team. There are several ways in which you can:First, you can pray for our team as we prepare for the physical and spiritual labor. Pray that we will share Christ boldly and show everyone we meet His gentleness and love.

  • Also, please pray for the safety of our team and that through this mission trip our team will continually deepen our personal commitment to Christ.
  • Finally, if you would like to help financially support the trip, your help would be greatly appreciated.  To do so, please click here for more information.

We are looking forward to helping others who are less fortunate than us. Thank you, in advance for joining the youth of Philadelphia Baptist Church as we share the love of Jesus with the people of Savannah, Georgia!

VBS 2010

Two Nights Down…Three to Go!

VBS 2010 has been a blast so far. I am excited to see what God is going to do in the last three nights. Pray that God will use this week to touch the children and their parents.

We are walking through the Bible and learning about the Life of Joseph in Egypt.  Joseph trust God through what he experienced. Following Joseph’s example, we learn how important it is to trust God and believe in God’s timing.
