Teach Us to Be More Than a Dusty Bible

It is sad that the only thing that keeps dust from collecting on your digital Bible or your paper Bible is when it is used on Sunday mornings at church.

Lord, give us a desire to read and study Your Word. Give me a desire to read Your Word. Speak to me O’ God.

Father God, thank You for not giving up on us when we fail You. Your love never fails! You never give up on us. Your love never runs out on us.

Let us rest in Your presence and feel Your warm Continue reading Teach Us to Be More Than a Dusty Bible

Youth Prayer Night

As I sit here at youth prayer night, I am amazed at what God has done in out youth group. It is not the same group that I was a part of when Paige and I started helping Tessa and Wilson about a year ago. God has done so much! Each of the youth has been impacted by God in an indescribable way. He has transformed them. They are on a great journey towards something bigger and better. He has put a spirit of worship and praise in their hearts. He is teaching them how to pray and communicate with Him. Awesome!

Thank you O Lord for the work You have begun. I ask that you continue to work in them and through them. God give them wisdom and power to do great works in Your Name. Let them impact those around them at school, in their family, their friends, and even us a their youth leaders. O God do a work! Yes Lord move like a mighty wind. Transform us into the creation that you want us to be, the way You designed us to be.

God, You made us in Your image; You gave us the ability to love; and You gave us the freedom of choice. Help us to choose to serve You. Help us to love you and to love others-even our enemies. Help us to love like You love and forgive like You forgive. Lord, let us bless others. You have surly blessed us; now let us bless others!

Do a great work in us Lord.

In Your name, AMEN!

Encouragement For Today

Lord, help me to stand strong. Help me to live a life that is a witness for You, both publicly and privately. Help me to stand on Your Word and proclaim it. Help me to remember how much You love me. You have plans to prosper me–plans that are for good and not disaster. When I am down, You pick me up. When I am weak, You are my strength. When I am afraid, You are my comfort. When there is nowhere else to turn, You are right there waiting for me.

“For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” -Ephesians 6:12 (NLT)

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11

If you are feeling down, alone, afraid, like you have no hope, just remember that God loves you and that He care deeply for you. He desires for you to give your hurts, disapointments, insecurity, hoplessness, fright, etc. to Him. He will take it all away and give you peace and assurance.

God is MIGHTY TO SAVE!

-AMEN

Ten Years After 9/11/01

9.11.2001 – What were you doing on this day? Where were you? I can remember being in band class in the 8th grade at Stanfield Elementary School. When we got word that there had been a terrorist attck and the first plane had hit one of the WTC towers, we went into one of the 1st or 2nd grade classrooms and turned in the TV to get news on what  events had just taken place (and to watch the unpredicted events that were still yet to occur).

I pray that the Lord will be with the families that were affected by the plane hijackings. Lord, bless those families that lost loved ones, be with the rescue personel that risked there lives to save others, bless our nation and help us to prevent something like this from ever happening again, and help our nation turn our eyes back to You O’ Lord. Our country was built on a biblical foundation, Lord help us not to forget that foundation; if we do, then our nation will crumble.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, ONE NATION UNDER GOD, indivisible, with liberty, and justice for all.

AMEN!

Harvest Church – Reach Kids Camp 2011

Harvest Church hosted there first anual kids camp this month.  The camp took place August 11-13. At this camp, the kids were involved in devotions, putt-putt, skating, swimming, worshipping, praying, and listening to biblical teachings.

Satan tried so hard to prevent this event from taking plan, but God had great plans for this camp and was determined to make things happen! That is how great and mighty our God is!

8.11.11 - Group praying

The kids actively prayed for God to do great works. They believed with faith that God heard their cries and that He would answer their prayers!

8.11.11 - Worship: Going after the Lord in song

The kids sang songs like “Deep Cries Out”, “Praises”, “You Are Good”, and “How He Loves” as they worshipped the Lord. It was a joy to see young kids sing, lift up their hands, and dance before the Lord. God is raising up a generation of unashamed worshippers!

8.11.11 - Jordan, Andria, and Jodi dancing
8.11.11 - Jordan, Andria, and Jodi dancing

On Thursday and Friday night, the kids observed a dance synced to music.

8.11.11 - Leaders praying over the kids

The leaders had a chance to pray over the kids. It was a great time with the Lord! Not only did the leaders pray for the kids, but the kids prayed for other kids and the leaders.

In addition to all of this, the leaders made the kids a 20 ft. long banana split. And, on Friday night they had a camp fire and had a lock-in.

Prayer For Transformation

God, make Yourself real to me. Transform my life in a mighty way. Change me from who I am today, and make me into who You desire for me to be. I am not perfect. I mess up all of the time. Even though You do not like for me to disobey, You still love me unconditionally. Your love never fails me. Your love is perfect and pure. I can always count on you to be there for me. Even when I let go of your hand, You never let go of mine; Your hand stills holds tight. Thank You for Your love!

Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord;
his going out is sure as the dawn;
he will come to us as the showers,
as the spring rains that water the earth.
-Hosea 6:3

The Skinny on Prayer

How do you pray?

Many times we treat praying to God like a little kid plays with a toy.  A kid will play with a certain toy for a while and then lay it down until they feel like playing with it again or they have time to play with it. We may just pray in the morning during our quite time, or pray before we eat a meal, or pray before we go to sleep. Many people only pray on Sunday mornings and on Wednesday nights at church. The Bible tells us that we are to “pray without ceasing/stopping” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Prayer is one of the most important and powerful tools that a Christian has been given. Prayer is a direct connection to the creator of the universe! While Jesus was here on earth, He prayed continually to Our Father in heaven. Prayer is how we defeat the enemy! We need to be prayer warriors. Pray in confidence and know that God is able. Trust His timing! God will truly bless those that pray continually.

In Matthew chapter 6, Jesus directs they way that we are to pray:

9 Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
10 Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread,
12 and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

The video below, by The Skit Guys, illustrates how we can use the prayer model that Jesus gave us in Matthew 6 to communicate will God every moment of every day.

Prayer is our way to communicate with God, but as Christians we often treat prayer as something to be checked off a list and we miss the part where we are building our relationship with the Creator of the universe.

Two Nights Down…Three to Go!

VBS 2010 has been a blast so far. I am excited to see what God is going to do in the last three nights. Pray that God will use this week to touch the children and their parents.

We are walking through the Bible and learning about the Life of Joseph in Egypt.  Joseph trust God through what he experienced. Following Joseph’s example, we learn how important it is to trust God and believe in God’s timing.

Life is short. Life is precious.

Life is short. Life is precious. It all depends on what you make of it.

Today, my fiancée lost her paternal grandfather. This makes the third grandparent that she has lost in a years time. What keeps her going is knowing that they are in a better place where pain and suffering has no place.

If you have Jesus in your life then you do not have a reason to fear death, because when you have Jesus and you die, it is only a physical death; in Jesus, you can have eternal life. Dying with out Jesus means that you die a physical death but also a spiritual death.

But please pray for the Fitton family. Pray that God will comfort their hearts and help them through this time. Prayer is such a powerful tool that we have. Let’s trust that God will send peace to the family.

Life is short. Life is precious. What are you doing with your life?
