True Worship

True worship is abandoning the things of this world and not relying on material things and surrendering our lives to God and His perfect Will.

It is only when we live by the Will of God and not our own that we can find peace in the midst of all of the chaos.

Below is a great song called “What If His People Prayed” by Casting Crowns.

What if the armies of the Lord
Picked up and dusted off their swords
Vowed to set the captive free
And not let satan have one more
What if the Church, for heaven’s sake
Finally stepped up to the plate
Took a stand upon God’s promise
And stormed hell’s rusty gates

Chorus I:
What if His people prayed
And those who bear His name
Would humbly seek His faith, yeah
And turn from their old ways

And what would happen if we prayed
For those raised up to lead the way
Then maybe kids in school could pray
And unborn children see light of day

What if the life that we pursue
Came from a hunger for the truth
What if the family turned to Jesus
Stopped asking Oprah what to do

Chorus I:
What if His people prayed
And those who bear His name
Would humbly seek His face yeah
And turn from their own way
Chorus II:
He said that He would hear
His promise has been made
He’ll answer loud and clear, yeah
If only we would pray

If My people called by My name
If they’ll humble themselves and pray
If My people called by My name
If they’ll humble themselves and pray

What if His people prayed
And those who bear His name
Would humbly seek His face, yeah
And turn from their old ways
He said that He would hear
His promise has been made
He’ll answer loud and clear yeah
If only we would pray

Many times we all look to someone besides God.  We may look to ourselves, family, friends, or even Oprah.  We need to “seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness” [Matthew 6:33].  Prayer is an important factor in living a Godly life.  It is the very connection between the created and the Creator Almighty God.

Let’s draw near to God in this new year and ask what He would have us do.  He will never forsake you.  Only trust and obey.  It is that simple.  Do not let your fleshly desires get in the way; when that happens you start to limit what God can do.  Seek only His will and that is when God has no limit!

Jesus Died For MYSPACE In Heaven

Jesus died for my space in Heaven, but He also died for your space in Heaven.  “He was wounded for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with His stripes we are healed” [Isaiah 53:5].  When I think about Jesus dying, I am reminded of what Simon Peter said: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God ” [Matthew 16:16].  Who is Jesus to you?  To me, Jesus in my savior that died in my place to take away the burden and consequence of sin, all of my hurts and pains, and He delivered me from the doom of eternal death (complete separation from God).  Paul tells us in Romans that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”  Paul goes on to say that “the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

JesusbeingnailedLike everyone else, I am not perfect.   I have had my own downfalls, and for many years I had no one any greater than me to help me back up.   It was a struggle to go through life each and every day.  One day things could be fine and then the next they were what seemed to be the worse that they could get.

Thanks to my maternal grandparents, I am in a better place today.  They showed me Gods love, and they started taking me to church each Sunday when I was very young.  I am so glad that they did.  I seriously doubt that I would be where I am today without their influence.  I also am thank for other family members, my church family, and my pastor that prayed for me and encouraged me.   They all have been there for me through everything that I am going through.

Since becoming a Christian.  I have surrendered my life to my Savior Jesus Christ; even my thoughts, actions, and my reactions. “I have been crucified with Christ.  It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” [Galatians 2:20].

However, I am still not perfect, but I am going to strive to my best to model my life after Christ’s life as He loved here on Earth.  With His example, I am able to keep my self in check each day.

’Cause Jesus paid it all, All to Him I owe. Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow.

I have heard the question asked before, “what if when you die you find out that there is no heaven, no God, no Jesus.  What if you just wasted your time?”.   My friend, I tell you that my life will have been much better off than if I had lived my life for myself and my own desires.  I would have been into so many things.  Who knows; it may have been drugs, alcohol, a life full of living off of sexual desires, or even suicide. But my faith in God has given me strength and a purpose for living.  Jesus tells us in New Testament that “…man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord” [Deuteronomy 8:3].  This is very true–I would not be able to have the joy that I have without God’s Word.

Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

Nicodemus said to him, “How can these things be?” Jesus answered him, “Are you the teacher of Israel and yet you do not understand these things? Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know, and bear witness to what we have seen, but you do not receive our testimony. If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things? No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”

John 3:1-21

Life’s Storms

Everyone has times in their lives that it feels like their troubles will never end. It feels as if God is a million miles away and you are all alone. The truth is that He never left you. In Hebrews 13:5, Jesus tells us that He “will never leave you nor forsake you.” What needs to be examined is, did you leave God? What have you been doing lately? Maybe you have been hanging out with your friends, partying, doing drugs, watching questionable shows on television, or using foul language. It is very easy to remove yourself out of God’s circle of fellowship. However, the good news is that if you are a true believer that you can never be taken out of the circle of Salvation. If you have been feeling that God is not close to you, then you need to make the decision that you are going to start praying everyday, all day. It is through prayer and supplication/petitioning that we can draw near to God. God loves to talk with His children. The truth is, He thinks that you are to die for! [Romans 5:8 | John 3:16]

No matter what your situation is, God is there for you and ready to receive you with open arms. All you have to do is run to Him. But we should not just run to God only in the bad times. He wants us to come to Him when things are going good in our life. That is how much He loves us. Many times when everything seems to be going well, we will just talk with Him every now and then. possibly we talk to Him for a short moment when we wake up and then right before we go to bed, or maybe we just pray before our meals, or only on Sunday and Wednesday nights, or maybe we just do not pray at all. We use God as a crutch to get through life rather than letting Him be our best friend and our everything. God desires to be your all-in-all.

Along with prayer, reading the Word and putting it into action in your life will help you draw close to the Lord. The Word of God is a powerful tool to use in you daily walk with Christ. The Bible is the only piece of the Armor of God that is meant for offensive use. The others are defensive pieces of armor. The Bible is the Truth that overcomes the darkness; it reveals Satan’s plans; it gives us hope for the future. “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever” [Isaiah 40:8].

Dry and Thirsty

For a while now I have been dry and thirsty. I had pushed myself away from the Lord. I have let my desires take precedence over His desires. I have not been praying and communicating with my Heavenly Father as much as I should. I have realized the need that I have for God. He is the one that my strength comes from. He is the only on that can satisfied this thirst that I have. He wants to be my everything. In John 4:14 Jesus tells me and He tells you, “whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.

I am still a young Christian; I was saved in the early part of September of 2001 and baptized on September 30th. Even though I am a Christian, I am not perfect and will never be perfect. The only man/person that has ever walked this great earth with out committing a sin was Jesus Christ. But, I am righteous and holy because He is righteous and holy. He died so that I might live; He died so that you might live. “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” [Romans 5:8].

My prayer is that I will dive into the Word more and more each day and pay more attention to what the Holy Spirit has to say to me. If I would stop talking and just start listening more to what God has to say, then I would be much better off. The Church today has that same problem. They try to solve their problems with their own earthly solutions. However, their “solutions” just make things worse. Jesus tells us “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” [Matthew 11:28]. If you are burdened because of your past or whatever your situation may be, give it to God. Say, “Lord here I am with my burdens. I give them all to you. Vindicate me O God” If you will do this and have faith that He will take your pains and worries, then you will truly have peace.

“The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.” [Psalms 9:9-10].
