Parking? on Campus?

On August 5, 2009, Gary Caton told (see video below) Channel 9 that Parking and Transportation Services supply a sufficient number of parking spaces for students.

However, on August 16, 2010, the Parking Services posted an article titled “It’s Going to be Tight, Parking Reality Check“.  The article says “Hundreds and hundreds of spaces were added and so were that many new students. Do the math.”  If I do the math…

X spots in 2009 + hundreds of new spots = x+hundreds

and… X students in 2009 + hundreds of new students = x+hundreds

so… the new students are able to park in the new spots.  So what? There are still not enough spots on campus for students to park; the initial problem still exists.

The good news is that they are adding a deck near the new EPIC building that will accommodate 1300 vehicles.  The bad news is that the deck will not be finished until 2012.  Between now and 2012, hundreds of new students will be attending UNCC.

They are also building other new decks and lots, but at the same time the are removing other lots in order to build building in those places.  It seems that they are swimming upstream and not thinking about the future.  There are students that have to arrive on campus an hour or more before there class so that they can use that hour to drive around and around to try and find a spot.  That hour could be a lot more useful if they could use in to study instead of having to literally hunt for a parking spot for an hour.

Parking Services does offer remote lots off of campus, but you still have to arrive early at those lots and then wait for a shuttle to come pick you up.

What is your view?

Quick Update

I finished up my last exam this past Wednesday.  I was worried about not doing well in a few classes, but God is good; I found out on Monday that I passed all of my classes with good grades. It feels good to have a break from school.

I am looking forward to what God has planned for me this summer! I have several things that I am praying about, but God is faithful. I trust that what ever happens is what He has planned for my life. If I trust Him and rely on Him, then I cannot fail. His ways and plans are perfect. Who better to trust in than the man that knows what the future holds? None but God the Creator!

Got to keep this passage at the front of my mind everyday:

1 I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber.
4 Behold, he who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The Lord is your keeper;
the Lord is your shade on your right hand.
6 The sun shall not strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.

7 The Lord will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
8 The Lord will keep
your going out and your coming in
from this time forth and forevermore.

-Psalms 121

I know that God will be with me. He has been with me ever since I began my relationship with Him. He has never failed me, and He never will.

“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” -Philippians 1:5-6

End Of Semester

It is drawing near to the end of the semester. I have a lot of projects, assignments, tests, quizzes, and final exams to do in such a small amount of time. All of this work has brought a load of stress. But I try to know worry about. I try my best to just place this load in God’s hands; it is much easier that way. I just pray that I do not forget something major. I have to keep my head up. The finish line is so near. I cannot do it alone; I must depend on God to carry me the whole way. God’s Word tells that He will not and cannot fail us. I believe that.

Please pray for me. I would appreciate it. Is there anything that you need prayer for? I would be glad to pray for you.

My First Mac

I got my first mac the other day. I purchased the Macbook Pro 13.3”. It has been an interesting journey learning the new operating system. So far, I am really enjoying it.

I got it to replace by older Hp Pavillion laptop. I got a new laptop that would last me through college and be fast enough to run the programs that I need for my engineering classes.

I installed Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac. It allows me to install other operating systems on virtual drives. So far, I have installed Windows 7, Chrome OS, and Ubuntu 9.10.

I have enjoyed learning my way around the Mac OS X and testing Chrome OS and Ubuntu.
