I am called…

Lord,

I am called by you to be Your beloved.  I am called to make a difference in this community, nation, and world.  You require nothing but my best from me.  Lord, as You know, there is a big decision and opportunity that sets before me.  Lord, I pray that You will help me to make the right choice.  Let not my will be done, but let Thy will be done.  Your perfect Word tells me that You have a plan for my life; one to prosper me and not harm me; one to give me hope and a future [Jeremiah 29:11].  Lord let Your desire become my desire.  Lord I pray that you will help me when I have doubts; I need Your help Father.  Help me to trust You more and more each day.  Lord be with me in all my moments in life–the good and the bad.  In Your Son Jesus’ holy name.

-Amen

I post some of my prayers to share the beautiy of the Lord with you.  I do not want to be boastful in any way.  My desire is that the prayers will inspire you to make a difference for God.  I want these prayers to not only benefit me, but to also benefit you.

Who are you?

cloudy-with-a-chance-of-meatballs

Us in our 3D glasses...we look like such nerds!!!

Just got home from a great night spent with the wife-to-be. It was great to have time to spend with my awesome fiancée. We don’t get enough “just you and me time”. We started the great night by eating at Tailgators. Then we went to the mall to pick up some Starbucks. After we got our drinks, we went to go see the movie–Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs–in 3D! It was a great movie to laugh at. The best part was watching it in 3 deminsions. The movie had an awesome message to it–be yourself no matter what other people think of you. That concept is what we all need to be focused on. Instead of trying to be something that other people want us to be, we should be the man/woman/boy/girl that God made us to be. Just be yourself. Life is much harder trying to be someone you are not.

Just remeber that you are “fearfully and wonderfully made” [Psalms 139:14].

Which type of person are you?

Tonight (10.20.09) was the last night of CRU.  The past 3 nights have been great.  God is so good!  Tonight message was taken from Luke 10:25-37.  I believe that the Lord want me to share it with you.

25Just then a religion scholar stood up with a question to test Jesus. “Teacher, what do I need to do to get eternal life?”26He answered, “What’s written in God’s Law? How do you interpret it?”

27He said, “That you love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and muscle and intelligence—and that you love your neighbor as well as you do yourself.”

28“Good answer!” said Jesus. “Do it and you’ll live.”

29Looking for a loophole, he asked, “And just how would you define ‘neighbor’?”

30-32Jesus answered by telling a story. “There was once a man traveling from Jerusalem to Jericho. On the way he was attacked by robbers. They took his clothes, beat him up, and went off leaving him half-dead. Luckily, a priest was on his way down the same road, but when he saw him he angled across to the other side. Then a Levite religious man showed up; he also avoided the injured man.

33-35“A Samaritan traveling the road came on him. When he saw the man’s condition, his heart went out to him. He gave him first aid, disinfecting and bandaging his wounds. Then he lifted him onto his donkey, led him to an inn, and made him comfortable. In the morning he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take good care of him. If it costs any more, put it on my bill—I’ll pay you on my way back.’

36“What do you think? Which of the three became a neighbor to the man attacked by robbers?”

37“The one who treated him kindly,” the religion scholar responded.

Jesus said, “Go and do the same.”

The two most important words in this scripture are “half dead”.  Now keep that in your back pocket.  There were 4 types of people on that road.  Just like you are one of the 4 types of people and you meet 4 types everyday.  We are all on a road just like the man that was traveling.  We are on the road called life; we were all physically born and we will all die physically. I lift my hands in worship…

I lift my hands in worship.  Some people say I shouldn’t.  I want to tell them not to play worship songs if that it is the case.  If God has changed your life and He has filled you, then there should be no reason not to worship Him in such “extreme” ways.  God has bless me beyond imagine, so much that I can not even comprehend.  I will sing, I will dance, I will lift my voice, I will lift my hands in worship unto God because He is good…He is Mighty…He is Awesome…He is everything that I need.  He is my Strength and my Song!  Only in Him shall I boast.

“Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the LORD.”  -Psalms 134:2

I am in no way perfect. Don’t get me wrong.  I don’t always give God 100% of the glory and honor as I should.  I make mistake just like the next average Joe.  But I know one thing that is for sure.  God loves me (and you) so much that He sent His only Son to die on Calvary’s tree.  No matter what wrong we have done, Jesus’ death and resurrection is able to blot out that wrong.  His Blood shed does not cover our sins, but it make it white as snow–it bleaches them.

“as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions [sins, wrong doings] from us.”  -Psalms 103:12

The following lyrics are from the song “We Lift our hands In the Sanctuary” by Kirk Franklin:

We clap our hands in the sanctuary
We clap our hands to give you the glory
We clap our hands to give you the praise
And we will praise you for the rest of our days
Yes, we will praise for the rest of our days

If God has made a difference in your life, I encourage you to be a fool for God.  Shout God’s goodness from your rooftop.  Let your worship reflect your appreciation for what God has done for you.  Believer, worship God in Spirit and in Truth.  If God has changed you, DO NOT BE SILENT!

Praising God,

-matthew

Who are you following?

“You can only move as fast as who is in front of you.” This statement is very true. Where you go and how fast you get to your destination relies on who you are following. Are you following after Jesus or are you letting someone else lead you?

When Jesus called His disciples, the men abandoned their lives to follow Jesus. We must do the same when we decide to follow Jesus. We give up our sinful life to take on a life led by God’s Holy Spirit. We are to give ourselves as a living sacrifice.

What ever happened in our past, we need to leave it in the past. Focus on today and the future. You cannot change things that have already come to pass. However, you can impact today, tomorrow, and the future. The choice you make in the here and now will effect what happens later.

Who are you living for? Who are you following, or who are you letting lead you?

I encourage you to seek and follow hard after God. In all you do, put Him first. Go make a difference for the Kingdom.

God bless you all.

Heart Cry

Lord God, I cry out to your mighty name. I ask that you come and surround me. Stay with me through this circumstance. Let you love so shine upon me. Let me not be overcome by temptation. Let not my eyes wonder and my mind lust after things of the world. Lord, put a fire in my heart that burns bright for You. Let me be a beacon of light to a dark and dying world. God give me a heart like you have. Let me weep over the things that sadden you. Let me joy in what brings you joy. Let me see HOW You see, O God! Put a passion in my heart to tell others about you. Lord, direct my paths each and every day. Give me discernment. Show me what is holy and righteous. Teach me and show me Your ways. Help me to love like you love. Help me to care as you do. Give me eyes that are blinded to physical aspects of life and eyes that are fully open to the spiritual. Help me to see the loneliness and hurt inside of others. Give me a deep, deep compassion for them. Let me not pass them by. Let me help them in any way possible. Lord, train my tongue to speak works that would be pleasing to you. Let my mind only dwell on pure and holy thoughts not those of immorality, filth, perverse, and wicked things. Let me be filled with your Holy Spirit. O Lord, may I not doubt Your Word. Give me a desire to emerse myself in Your Word each day. Lord be with me in all my circumstances. Let me look to you through the good and the bad. Let me not be prideful and arrogant. Give me a desire to be like your Son Jesus. Let me not seek after worldly wealth; but yet, let me seek heavenly wealth. Let me be a warrior for Your Kingdom. Give me a heart of a lion so that I may be brave and strong to stand for what is right. Lord, I pray that I will not be afraid to take a stand for you. Let me take a stand against abortion, homosexuality, divorce, adultery, physical abuse, drug abuse, alcohol, greed, love of the world, disgusting images on the web and in the media, and liars. Lord protect and guide me in all my ways. Help me to not be stained by the world. Let me seek Your face each day. And, let me rest not until I have fellowshiped with you each day. This is my prayer; this is my cry.
~Amen

Ministry

This is a good read.  It is by my co-worker Lonnie Bateman

I have really had this word on my heart and mind the last few days. Ministry. One of the definitions from Dictionary.com describes it as: an act or instance of ministering; ministration; service.

Just a powerful description if you are a follower of Jesus. Ministering…. it is how Jesus came for others. It is how we are supposed to be to others. His hands and feet and His example. To reach others with the “good news” about Gods loving mercy, His grace and salvation. Too many times we think of ourselves as not good enough or we have a past and that fear keeps us from stepping forward. But our walk with Jesus is our ministry. Its personal and we own it. It is to be shared and not held private. Once we begin to understand this very important message – that our ministry is just that – OURS and we begin to start serving in our church or serving others or leading kids and students… we cross over and big things begin to happen.

The message we often hear in our minds is that we can’t do it. We don’t know enough about the bible. We don’t have a clue about students and children – we have messed our children and families totally up. My past is too bad.

But God does want to use you. He has given you talents and gifts… not excuses. He has given you life experiences to learn and grow from. There is no CAN’T in His vocabulary. Your ministry is your walk in your faith. Faith is believing in Gods word and acting upon it, no matter how you feel, because God has PROMISED a good result. So are you going to continue to doubt or are you going to get real with your faith? Doubt keeps you where you are …. people will always question you and make comments when you step out in faith to do something for God. Don’t let that keep you where you are. Your thing right now is either going to grow your faith, stretch your faith or its going to keep you where you are. So who are you listening to?

I have really been pouring my heart into those around me – especially “MyKids” that I am doing life with and whom I have influence with in leading. To go into their schools and their everyday life and shine for Jesus. Its their ministry – their mission field. God has called them to do this… just like He has called you to your mission field at work and your personal ministry. We are all ministers to Gods kingdom all working, serving and reaching out to others – being His hands and feet. Its a new personal way of looking at things…. let today be your day that you move from doubt to understanding the meaning of Faith. Your Ministry has action in ministering and serving. Its not a checkbox on Sunday mornings for an hour…. its life change for life!
